Replaces Canon
Has anyone ever had to have the front element replaced on a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens because of a scratch?
If so, how much did it cost you in total? I am trying to get an idea of what the cost would be without having to take the time and money to send it to NJ to get Canon to give me an estimate. Thanks
You might be looking at anywhere between 200 and 400 bucks.
(sorry, but fixing a lens is costly)
I too suggest you phone Canon and/or phone a local place that deals with Canon warranties. (or just phone a local camera shop and ask for their opinion)

Canon Xf305 Battery Bp-975 First Reviews
Canon urge the couple of new camcorders XF305 and XF300 camcorders are a landmark addition to Canon’s professional High Definition camcorder range.
The Canon XF305 ships with the BP-975 battery pack, the same battery included with the Canon XF300. It measures 38.2 x 40.3 x 70.5mm (1.5″ x 1.8″ x 2.8″) and weighs 320g (11.1 oz.). The Canon BP-975 battery slips into a cavity in the back of the body, and has a spring-loaded release switch. Moving parts like this should worry shooters who play rough with their camcorders, as they are more liable to break than a simple side-mounted battery placement (as on the XF300).
We tested the XF305 battery for endurance during continuous recording. In our test, we put the camcorder in auto mode and hit record (HDV 1080/60i, in this case). No manual controls were engaged during recording. When the tape runs out, we shut the XF305 camcorder off, replaced the Canon BP-975, turned it back on, and hit record again. Finally, the battery lasted an incredible 5 hours, 58 minutes, and 41 seconds (378 minutes and 41 seconds). This is far longer than the BP-955 battery endurance (approx. 240 minutes) – far longer than any battery we’ve ever seen.
